Most people who read this review are probably looking for the SCAVI tour, which is different. Be careful! We did this tour by accident! With that being said, this tour was awesome and we were not disappointed in any way. You get to tour the excavations of a burial ground that was used for hundreds of years. There's tons of...

We booked this tour months in advance, but there were no clear instructions as to where to meet the group. We have taken the scavi tour of the grave-sites under St. Peter's Basilica, so that is where we thought we needed to be. We got there at 10 minutes before our scheduled departure time only to find out we needed...

Must book well in advance on the Vatican website as there are very limited positions in tours throughout the day. Tour takes you outside the Vatican Museum to go underground to view pagan and early Christian tombs. Preservation and archaeological work is still ongoing and visible as you progress through the site. Tour guide was very knowledgable and made the...

You should be very lucky to see this. Reservation is required, but there are limited spaces, so be prepared and hurry.

We found this through the vatican website. But regardless of that we weren't disappointed at all. It was a fascinating tour and your shown the different levels...

We were very lucky to find and do this tour. I found it when i was looking through the Vatican official website. You must reserve the tour through sending an email to: visiteguidategruppi.musei@scv.va. Although they didn't require us to pay immediately, we paid for the tour when we arrived at the Vatican Museums (10 euros per person). Of course you...

Expanded and reopened to the public in December 2013, this tour (booked through the Vatican Museums) takes you to the amazing Roman necropolis found under a parking lot in the Vatican along what was once the ancient road, Via Triumphalis. The tombs and burials are layered over time and are fascinating to behold. The poor were cremated and buried in...
